Foundry Crane
A special-purpose process crane concept for foundry handling, developed around heat, dust, load criticality and the operating procedure. All safety and redundancy features require confirmation.
Description
Reference configuration only. Molten-metal handling is a high-risk application. Final design, redundancy, heat protection, duty, controls and applicable safety standards must be based on a formal process-risk assessment and confirmed in the written technical proposal.
A foundry crane is a process crane intended for handling ladles and other loads in foundry or steelmaking environments. The complete system must be engineered around molten-metal risk, thermal exposure and the required operating cycle.
Typical Applications
- Charging and transfer of molten metal
- Ladle handling in foundries
- Casting-bay operations
- Furnace and converter service
- Process maintenance in high-temperature areas
Features
- Process-specific bridge and trolley arrangement
- Heat-shielding concept for exposed components
- Duty selection based on actual production cycles
- Operator visibility and service-access planning
- Customizable according to project requirements
Optional Configurations
- Main and auxiliary lifting mechanisms
- Redundant safeguards where required by the risk assessment
- Protected operator cab or remote operation
- Condition monitoring and event recording
- High-temperature cables, controls and component protection
Safety Systems
- Overload, overspeed and travel-limit protection
- Brake configuration and monitoring defined by risk assessment
- Emergency stop, warning and access-interlock systems
- Thermal protection and controlled failure strategy
- Anti-collision, zoning and restricted-area functions where required
Applicable Industries
Foundries, steelmaking, non-ferrous metal processing and high-temperature process facilities.
